Pat Conroy has represented the Lake Macquarie region in Federal Parliament since 2013.
Having been elected to Parliament in 2013 as the Member for Charlton representing the western suburbs of Lake Macquarie and Newcastle, he was re-elected as the Member for Shortland in 2016 following a redistribution of electoral boundaries by the Australian Electoral Commission, and re-elected again in 2019 and 2022.
Pat grew up on the wonderful Central Coast and now lives in beautiful Lake Macquarie with his wife raising their two children.
The values of social justice, opportunity, and fairness are key principles that he holds and believes our region embodies them in so many ways.
Pat is committed to ensuring this community has a strong, well-funded healthcare system, an education system with passionate, engaged teachers, and an economy that delivers secure, well-paying jobs, by making things here.
Older Australians continue to contribute to this community in so many ways. Pat believes we need to restore respect to older Australians and ensure that they are treated with the dignity that they deserve.
Pat feels greatly privileged to be the Member for Shortland and is thankful for being given the opportunity to work with the community to build a better future here in our region.
Pat is Minister for International Development and the Pacific and Minister for Defence Industry in the Albanese Labor Government having previously served in various roles in the Shadow Ministry.
